Spring and all that. Last night, legions of drunk people were arrested near my old home, they blockaded streets and eventually ran out of cops. Spring break, I guess. I still slept through it all - better a half block away than 5 feet. 4 weeks of school and I'm done. I'll miss it, it's been a lovely little field trip to the past - I remember when I thought was it was hard! Then again, I was working midnight-8am in a computer lab, and the hard thing was not sleeping through class. Reading Gogol's _Dead Souls_ and other fun things.

Sean Griffin is heading off into the desert, doing his last show April 7, so check that out if you can. We're hunting a new designer, but his combo of skillz will be hard to replace.

The shop rocks on, it will do better when I am back here full time. Sometimes it feels like treading water- the only thing that it does is pay for utilities and the hours poured in accomplish nothing. Then again, it ain't supposed to be easy. Rachel is running off to busk and visit Europe and we'll miss her. Jamie, the new kid, has the hustle and eye it takes to keep the manual rolling. Emily is so close to her Master's degree it hurts. Daveer is keeping the sign end rolling while she knocks out her thesis and crams for a French translation exam. Billy has the automatic whipped. It's a strong crew.

It'll be DEMF before we know it.

ahhh... a week of just work, without school. So much for Spring Break on the beach in Florida. Although next weekend is the WMC and there's a m-nus vs drumcode night that tempts me to drive 18 hours and be a dissolute party animal. It's never about the actual conference, it's the parties. I did it a few years ago, with Peaches and wound up doing most of the driving. It's tempting... I'll save it for DEMF in Detroit. My brethren up at Paxahau have been able to actually plan this one out for a year and my bet is that it will be as good as it can possibly be.

So Louisville is gearing up for Thunder and the Derby, Detroit is gearing up for the festival, and Meme Tech for the summer tshirt season and I've got six weeks of classes and then I finally have that little piece of paper. Today is St Paddy's day and I live on Irish Hill, so there should be madness about. My new spot is further removed from the madness, so it should be a dull background din instead of right up in my grill 100% of the time until the bars close. I can't even begin to describe the mental effect of not getting a good night's sleep for 3 years. It's like a mild case of PTSD. I feel like I've been reformatted, upgraded, and rebooted.

Local recommendation: the Nachbar in Germantown. It's so new Google doesn't even find it. But check it out.

Anyway, don't have anything profound to say. Usually don't. But the new incarnation of Untranslatable is on the way, and we should be handing out schwag at DEMF.

Spring break. Nice. Time to clean my desk and catch up the shop. I moved, by the way. Out of the one room cave in the middle of 3 Irish bars, over about a block onto Highland, and it's nice. I have a yard and a front porch. I can sleep without drunk people screaming outside my windows and couples breaking up loudly at 3am and such.

I'll be done with school in 7 weeks, for good, unless I decide to chuck it all and become a history teacher. I'll have much more time to write details out then.
